- Spring Concert 2026
-
Date Posted: Tue, 5 May 2026

Dear all,
What a concert! Very challenging musically and technically and, as usual, you rose to the challenge. Great singing from all sections - well done. A great blend and range of colour and dynamics and some good watching.
Thanks to Debs, Pete and Colin for their lovely solo contributions. Ella and Terence were stunning and gave us a great lift with their remarkable voices. Last and most importantly, huge thanks and congratulations to Roger for his terrific playing and support from the organ. These are two of the most challenging pieces in the repertoire and he was brilliant.
We start rehearsals again on September 8th with December Concert on Sunday 13th.
Resuming on January 5th with Spring Concert on April 25th. No joint events, just us. I will let you what the music is in the next couple of weeks.
Have a great summer.

Simon Mercer writes:
"Hello everyone,
I hope you are rested and recovered from last night.
What a beautiful concert that was. Lovely focused and well tuned singing with excellent tonal variation. Flexible and highly communicative and well done for watching and listening so carefully. The unaccompanied items were absolutely lovely and you really nailed the Palestrina.
This is what makes Hayfield Singers such a joy to conduct.
Huge thanks to Roger again for his characterful and colourful playing, what would we do without him? Great thanks to our visiting soloists and musicians for adding that extra something. Thanks to Dave for the wonderful posters and programmes, to Mary for sorting out the music, to Norrie for ticketing, to Colin for calm financial management and to Wendy, Allan and the gang for rigging and derigging the staging. Thanks also to all other committee members who work so hard to make these concerts so special.
I'll edit and send the recording today. I hope you all have a healthy, happy and restful Christmas and New Year."
